The rule of the tyrant Ben Ali flees in secret, only to return openly after all the bloodshed!

The formation of a government in Tunisia under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the old-cum-new, Mohamed Ghannouchi – who was the foremost aide of the fugitive tyrant Ben Ali – was announced on 17 January 2011.  This new government was formed with its majority being from Ben Ali’s oppressive party, the RCD, with six ministers from the Ben Ali government retaining their positions, namely, the ministries of leadership, defense, finance, and domestic and foreign affairs. Ghannouchi added to these three members of opposition parties to marginal ministries in order to create the deceptive appearance of what he called national unity! Thus the henchmen of Ben Ali preserved the continuity of his rule and that of his party even as he fled as a fugitive.

These people have defiled the pure blood which they shed over thirty long days since the beginning of the people’s uprising on 17 December 2010.  This uprising came after poverty, hunger, disease, unemployment, and not to mention tyranny and oppression, pushed the people to an extreme and pushed the young man Bouazizi to his death after the henchmen of the regime trampled over his cart on which he would sell a modest amount of produce and make an income barely able to keep him alive! This was followed by a mass uprising by the people against the tyrant regime. The people sought a secure and peaceful life under the just rule of Islam, in a land where the regime had pillaged its resources to live extravagant lives at the expense of leaving the people in extreme poverty.

O people of Tunisia, O Muslims: the bravery of the people of Tunisia has its roots in the depths of history, since the time Allah (swt) blessed them with Islam and it became one of beacons of Islam spreading guidance. From it the sparks of the liberation of North Africa and Andalus shone forth. It became known as the land of Uqbah who set out from it carrying Islam to North Africa until he reached the shores of the Atlantic Coast where he stood in front of its thundering waves addressing the ocean, “If I knew that there were beyond you people I would overcome your torrents with the hooves of my horses to conquer them!”

This is the real Tunisia, and this how its sons were, men of Jihad,

{رِجَالٌ لا تُلْهِيهِمْ تِجَارَةٌ وَلا بَيْعٌ عَنْ ذِكْرِ اللَّهِ وَإِقَامِ الصَّلاةِ وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ يَخَافُونَ يَوْمًا تَتَقَلَّبُ فِيهِ الْقُلُوبُ وَالأَبْصَارُ }

“Men whom neither commerce nor trade can divert from the remembrance of Allah, and from constancy in prayer, and charity: they fear the Day on which all hearts and eyes will be transformed.” (al-Nur: 37)

Misery did not enter Tunisia except after the disbelieving colonialists, led at the time by France, were able to invade it and sever it from the body of the Uthmani Khilafah in 1881 CE. Thereafter they spread in Tunisia corruption, tyranny and oppression. The brave Muslims of Tunisia resisted, thousands of them were martyred as they defended in firm lines carrying their souls to rest in the path of Allah. Every time they heard the call for Jihad they would promptly respond, until Allah, the Powerful and Mighty, gave them victory and France was forced to leave defeated and disgraced. However, before the people of Tunisia were able to welcome the fruits of their victory by returning the rule of Islam to the land, a group of its people bought their thrones at the price of their deen by exchanging France for Britain, and thus was the rule of ‘Bourguiba’ and ‘Ben Ali’ whose oppression of the people was the worst yet. Tunisia became the booty for the greed of the local regime and a battleground for international conflict, particularly after America reared its head in trying to remove the trace of Old Europe!

We recall today all this that has passed, as we see that the pure blood which has been spilt is being negated once more. Before the people have been able to welcome its fruits by changing the regime of the tyrant Ben Ali and establishing the rule of Islam, thereby to live in peace and security, we see that the rule of the tyrant is returning once more in the form of the same faces which did not protect the sanctity of the land nor uphold justice amongst the people!

O people of Tunisia, O Muslims: The problem is not in the person of the tyrant Ben Ali. The problem is in the man-made system he left behind him which produces tyrants. It is not right that the deed of the sacred blood spilt upon the pure land of Tunisia be forgotten, or its influence be negated, by the allies of the tyrant assuming power once more! Are not Mebazaa, Ghannouchi and Kallal from the pillars of the tyrant’s rule? Were these ministers not partners with the tyrant Ben Ali and witnesses to the bloodshed he ordered?

The sacred blood spilt on the pure land of Tunisia will not forgive you if you are content with the rule of these people who were responsible for spilling that blood. It will not forgive you except if you realise that for which it was shed: to uproot the oppressive man-made system from its roots, and to establish the rule of Allah, the Khilafah Rashidah, in its place. Only then will the land shine with the light of its rabb, the khayr reach all the people, and the Muslims rejoice with the victory from Allah.

O people of Tunisia, O Muslims: The sincere guide does not lead its people astray. Hizb ut-Tahrir calls out to you to respond to the call of the pure blood that has been shed through the thirty days of your great uprising: that blood calls out to you to not let it go to waste by your silence on the oppressive man-made system imposed on you. It calls out to you to uproot the influence and control of the West and its tools and agents from your land. It calls out to you to respond to the caller to Allah to establish the Khilafah Rashidah, the promise of Allah to you and the glad-tiding of His Messenger (saw). It calls out to you that the only way to live a good life and to remove misery is by rejecting the laws of man, and following the laws of the Lord of man.

{فَمَنِ اتَّبَعَ هُدَايَ فَلا يَضِلُّ وَلَا يَشْقَى* وَمَنْ أَعْرَضَ عَنْ ذِكْرِي فَإِنَّ لَهُ مَعِيشَةً ضَنْكًا}

“Then whoso follows My guidance, he will not go astray nor come to grief. But he who turns away from remembrance of Me, his will be a life narrowed down” (Taha: 123-124)
